Hi Guys,

Do you know if there is such a thing as a 1/4"-20 UNC to 1/8" NPT Adapter?

Right now my muffler drain fitting is a 1/4" - 20 bolt with a o-ring on it. I want to get rid of the screw and replace it with a ball valve.

Thanks,

Pat

That should work. Since it will connect to a ball valve and get some twisting force on it, I would leave out the o-ring, put some Permatex or similar where the o-ring goes and tighten it down real good.

Not sure I want a fitting, and a valve, hanging off threads into fiberglass

Agree, too much hanging on such a small thread (1/4") and the fitting is brass and will dezincify and break with vibration. Bad move.

I have done it in the past with no issues. I guess I can substitute the ball valve with a stop cock...
I would just hate for you to have it snap off and fill the bilge on you. The longer it is the more it becomes a lever. A little vibration can end up being multiplied.
