I looked at two 25 BHM's yesterday, both set up with inboard diesels. One has volvo (tad 520 4 cyl 155 hp) the other an engine from a F-350 (250 hp). Both with 2:1 gears one a borg warner and the other a volvo, the owner said it is what came with the engine from volvo. the volvo looked to be about a 19-20" wheel and the other boat with the F-350 engine the owner said it was A 22" wheel. I couldn't get that close to check.
The owner of the volvo said he got 10-11 and the other owner said about 11. My question is what would you suggest or maybe Steve can answer is the right combination to make this hull cruise as 12-13 kts, or is 15 kt cruise possible. Don't want to go crazy but would a cummins 6BT 210hp be overkill or what about a 4 cyl cumins or Deere. Both are pre-emissions so no worry there or if you were to build a new one now out of the mold what would your choice be? How big of a wheel can they swing?
Did this boat end up in Vinalhaven or is that another one you did?
