Anyone on here have a need/use for green crabs? I know the RI guys like em for tog. Cabin fever already setting in just thinking about things I can do other than lobster/tuna next year. Pretty sure I could do some serious volume right near where I keep my boat. I’d like to find a situation that would both benefit me and a buyer and I mainly just want to kill the stupid things. What are they even worth? I’m in Portsmouth NH

Let me know in the spring, Ive heard they are pretty good lobster bait. If you have enough volume Ill give em a try at the right price.

$44.00 for a half bushel in the bait stores here in Jersey . Green crabs and white leggers are the choice bait in the fall and winter . Must be alive .

Any idea about how much a half bushel is? Half a tote or so? I’d have to imagine any profit would likely evaporate with getting them down there. Do you guys not catch them down that way?

They don't catch enough of'em to supply all the boats and the state laws are to screwed up to let any new guys get permits to catch them. I looked into it and one guy told me i need a blue claw crab license and a fish cop told me i need a lobster permit. Friggin government sucks.

Damn that’s crazy cuz they’re encouraging people up here to go for them and kill as many as they can. They’re a problem up here

I dabbled in selling softshell green crab this past summer when shellfish were shutdown. You catch them, sort them, then hold the ones about to molt until they do. Once they molt, put them on ice and sell. Takes a lot of storage, but every restaurant I sell shellfish to was interested.
