Bow Swivel Rod Holder

Anyone have pics of their setup?

 

That is nice. Perfect for single handling.

 

Nice setup. Looking for some on non center consoles if they are out there.

 

I got you, this is on a general marine walk around. On house forward de boat I have seen guys install flush like mine or they build one on a bracket stainless or alum so it sits higher when ur on the rod.

 

That rig is perfect !! I have thought about it many times but on a boat that has a foredeck you have to worry about things like bringing the rod up fwd., making sure you bring up your poon, tail wrap, push stick etc. Just to much stuff to bring up when solo.
I use to fish on a WA that had a fwd. holder. Great way to fight em and less to worry about. Like running under the chine & running gear.

 

It has gotten some flak on here before, but this is how we used to roll on the boat I learned on.
Despite appearnces that is solid as a rock, we put forethought into & did quite a bit of driveway testing. The pt platform was a late addition for cappy's 75 y/o father who wanted try fighting one up there, (I posted a vid in 2015). Maybe a case of what not to do, but it worked great & was copied by a few of the other mosquitos in the marina.

I REALLY like the one Fishstix posted, seems he has found a way to catch em without even going up there.

 

haha right! pull me around for a bit then I only walk up there for the end game. We always fight in the bow unless its too rough, you cant beat it.

 

Billy, that has to be photoshopped. I don't ever remember it being that flat.

 

How tall is your gin pole? I'm getting ready to build mine and was curious how tall yours is.

No. It's going midship behind the pilot house on the starboard side. There is already a short fixed one there that has the radar scanner mounted on top. My plan is to move the scanner onto a regular mount in the middle of the roof and then cut the top off of the one I have and slide another tube inside of it and make a telescopic one that I can raise when I need it. I'm going to uncover my boat at the end of this week. I will take some pictures when I do and start a new thread, so I don't hijack this one.

Where are you guys buying the 4 over 4 block and tackle?

 

I know they sell them at New England Marine and Industrial in Portsmouth NH. I don't know what they get for them though.

 

Steve why not a 2000 # winch from HF !! Works great and a lot cheaper than a 4 over 4.
