Having some issues with the capilano helm on my seaway. Turning to port the helm is smooth and super easy to turn. Turning to starboard it just about takes two hands to turn the helm, seems when you try to turn the helm faster it fights more. Never worked on one of these helms, or messed with the check valves. Any advice?

Never had that issue. Seems to me one of the check valves are stuck. You could try rebuilding it. I usually just replace helm units for my customers when They have issues, so I have never rebuilt one.

Give Sea Star a call. They have a pretty good tech support line and may actually be of some help in solving your issue.
