I should watch my terminology. According to that chart if your under 1000 hours a year your good. So if you are a seasonal lobsterman fishing s light load in a slipper 32 or smaller boat it may prove to be a good package. What’s good for us as....spectators is we have a dealer that is active on this site to let us know how they are holding up. I like this engine so far. Hopefully the opportunity will present itself I can see one first hand. I always liked Cummins 4BT and FPT’s SOFIM.

Have one in the old 28” Mitchell cove, crooked river, millennium marine. They alway have had a cage on her. It’s my SIL nephews boat. “River Rats” they are 13 and 16 years old, we built it new last year. Went 25kt with cage

Haha definitely not going in the Duffy, there are other plans for that. Just curious how it compared to other 315ish hp engines.

and I was kidding about a gasser....Nice engine this Deere....but it's very difficult to get the vibration out of the 4 bangers. Cummins 4BT, Yanmar 4LH, all shake in the low revs IMO...

Bill have you seen a 4 cylinder with a balance shaft? I haven't, only read about it. It's supposed to take some of the jumpty jump out of the low revs.

Bill, Deere has balance shafts but she still vibrates. There is no way to get rid of it all

I've run a 4BT and own a 4LH. I'd like to see the Deere engine, curious. Hard mount 4 cylinder, never seen that.
