Does anybody have experience with electric reels for cod fishing in about 30 fathom? What brand and size reel? What rods do you combine the reel with? Thanks

Buying one in 30 days, still can't make up my mind...

That Krystal reel, 601XL, looks to small from what I read online but seems to be selling up the in the NE...

The Diawa Tiacom Bull or something seems to be good but from more than one source hear its not reliable over the long haul on charter/commercial.

Electramate will drive you head crazy with the chain but heard few complaints.

I want it for cod and tiles...

I may take a stab at the 601XL for $550 online...

I know I can get a good resale on it if it doesnt work for kites and dredges online down south...

The other one is Precision, but if it breaks it has to go back to the factory to get resealed etc.

Down in Saipan they do drops on the reef, using both electramates and precision reels out here, thought that was funny being so far away from home seeing it...

Thanks I saw a YouTube of the diawa seborg 500 guys were using for cod. Seems to be an option for under 500 feet of water. Seems kind of pricy tho.

The Beltronics rock, a little tricky to to program at first but we used them for seabassin' so the jigging features weren't really used. But they were cool machines though the features they had were incredible.

Thanks Ronnie I think that's what I'm looking for. Do you know if that's the 500? Is there a dealer or shop up your way that's familiar with these that I could talk to?

    reels

I have two of the diawa blue ones with their matched bent butt swivel tip rods. They can be fished in the rod holder. 6 seasons, no worries...

Man I thought we were smoking them with the way we set up the belitronics on the DeWolf but the whole set up is f-ing awesome and it looks like those oilwinds are way easier to deal with than the belitronics! Makes me wanna go seabassin' again!!

Here's the same boat but you can see more of the operation, F-ING SLICK MAN!!!
