What’s everyone’s best guess on how long October Quota will last?

I say about 9-10 only because it's not opening on a weekend and the first few days, 10/1-10/4, look a bit sporty weather wise. The weekend of 10/5 looks FAC and the quota will get sucked up very quickly with all of the weekend warriors out.

Seems that my desk job is going to get in the way of my preferred "job" next week. Looks like I'll be weekend warrior-ing myself.

Catch em up gents... and be safe.

Looks like there is 147mt in the reserve and 72mt for Oct/ Nov. I think they'll let 75mt out of the reserve and depending on the WX it will be done by the 15th Oct.

My boss happens to be in town this week so I couldn't go the 1st and 2nd and was going to start fishing on the 3rd... we were just taking a more serious look at the weather. Seems like any of the days or none of them might be do-able, at least for us, but we do not fish on the rough days, so if it's really 6 foot wind waves we will not be out there rather we will go if the timing works out right in between wind shifts.

Usually though it seems a good number of the boats who normally hammer on the quota will go and deal with it, even in the worst crap many can slosh their way together to a local spot, the odds are the fish will be there this time of year, and they will all manage to catch. If we get a few good days everyone is going to go because they know that may be their only shot..

My guess 1 week. Really not a fan of the "save quota for late in the season" stuff, wish we could've just burnt the rest of the years quota and reserve in Sept, the weather and $$ was OK, but that's the game I guess.

NMFS transfers 100 mt of the 165.3-mt Reserve category quota to the General category quota for the October-November 2019 fishery, which automatically opens on October 1, resulting in an adjusted subquota of 172.2 mt for the October through November 2019 subquota period and 65.3 mt in the Reserve category

All we got in since it opened is a day and a half, few marks and one swing and miss. Wish I had something to report.
