Yeah I could tell you some stories. Sad but true. Everyone was trying to put all the traps they could in the water and you know how that goes when the new guy sets in next to your gear or on top of it.

Would pull some up now and again around the rockpiles I fish, I know I left a few behind when I did ghe recreational thing. Even pulled up a section of drag net once. My neighbor dives, used to do alot in the sound. Said you wouldn't believe the crap he found down there.

I know everyone is concerned about the plight of lobster, but the shrimping industry is all but gone. Sea surface temps and over fishing have taken its toll. Unlike other species the GOM pink shrimp have a narrower range of temp the spawn can survive. This is the first year in several the GOM SST have fallen to average or lower in the last few years by the end of January. A lot of stuff eat those shrimp other than people. If they can’t recover a lot more than fishermen will suffer.

I’m hoping yellow fin and big eye follow the mahi in next year if it warms up enough again. I caught small Bonito like crazy out on Jefferies last year.
