Bill-

Are you buying new or used? How are you going to use the boat?

As mentioned above, the 35 Duffy would be a great candidate, (1) they are fine vessals, and (2) they are available used. A few more hulls to look for would be a 36 BHM, and a 36 Northern Bay. The NB's out there will mostly be above your 80k limit, as most of them are not that old .Coincidently, the three models I have mentioned were all designed by Spencer Lincoln, and you can't go wrong there. Most 40' boats I have seen online, in that price range, are pretty much used up, and would require some tinkering (at least).
Hope this helps, and good luck in your search. Keep us posted.

I went out to the canyons with the amerello brothers out of plymouth ma once..thing is a beast..ill keep looking gonna post a few good deals tomorrow in the boat list but mostly smaller boats.. if you come across anything that we talked about in my price range be sure to let me know.. sometimes they slip by me..

u guys see this BHM in NC? its on yachtworld..itchy itchy

SEPTEMBER 2011 - This Beautiful DownEast Lobsterboat is Totally Refurbished, with new Awlgrip inside and out has just been DRAMATICALLY REDUCED IN PRICE! This excellent offshore fisherman is designed around the famous BHM models from Spencer Lincoln's drawing board. Proven in severe sea conditions, these 28's will handle anything nature can throw at them...and come out just as safe and solid on the other side. This model is powered by a reliable and rugged Caterpillar 3126, topping out at 24kts, but giving a 18kt cruise while burning a meager 6gph. Spring of 2011 this boat receiving a brand new barrier-coated bottom, in addition to every system being evaluated, and new components installed as needed.. Duplicating this boat as equipped will cost very close to $165,000.

As others mentioned the 35 Duffy is in a different class from some others mentioned.
But if the funds allowed to move up to that class no question would be a 36 or even better 38 Northern Bay
Has GM turned out any of their 36's (Northern Bay mold)? I imagine they have but I just haven't heard/seen of any.

Anybody else not crazy of the house that goes on the 38' NB? Every one I've seen it seems the house is too far forward for my liking. Seems to negate the amount of available interior space forward.

i've looked at this same rig a few times - i'm in the market for a downeaster - i talked to "raider ronnie",for a real review of how it performs...

me,being the skeptical guy i am: i found it a little wierd, the boat was "fully refurbished"...boat's not that old - add states "completley redone in 2005/2006" ...

Fully refurbished could be because it was a work boat when purchased? Seems a little high for an 01 but I'm not up on BHM current prices.

I agree that the H & H (especially the fighting yellow hull with white top/blue pin stripe) is on my bucket list. I love the lines and proportions too (sheer, tumblehome, pilothouse). How's the performance? Anyone own one?
