Just the right boat for us. I’m interested in connecting with others running RF-18’s. It’s from the late 80s, was well cared for.

One of my best friends had a RF-18 with a davit and pot hauler on it. Great boat. His family sold it when he passed. Enjoy, they are a lot of fun

I have owned my rossborough RF18 for 12 years, its a 1989 that I purchased from the original owner. As we live on the Madawaska River in Ontario the boat is the perfect size to moor in front of the house and it is the easiest boat to trailer and launch even using primitive ramps.
We have taken a cruise every summer all freshwater, including the North Channel of Georgian Bay, Lake Champlain, The Rideau Canal, The Trent Canal (over a couple of summers) and the Ottawa River from Ottawa to Montreal and return. As you know there isn't much room in the cabin so all of our trips have been a week or less. It would be great to plan a cruise with other Rf18s and other down east boats in the 18 to 20 ft range possibley a salt water cruise.

Hi Doug, we have visited PEI twice, the last time by motorcycle, beautiful in the summer. Last year we toured Nova Scotia and Nfld and saw a number of RF18 most were working boats. My boats name is JADE, it comes from arranging the first initials of my four grandchildren. Nice to hear from you.

I also own a 1989 Rosborough 18 down here in Toronto. Have had it for 10 years. Cheers, Dave

My friend had one about 10 years ago. It was light and nimble. Did everything he needed it to do. Hauled his traps with it and cruise Buzzards Bay.

I’m out of Buzzards as well. Sea trialed her today. Rides like a dream. Wondering what the person/ load capacity is.

It should have a USCG plate on the bulkhead or transom. We had 3 pob with a 50 Yamaha.

I can’t seem to locate it... the boat is 34 years old so it may have been removed at some point.

Altrich, I bought a camper enclosure sight unseen for my RF-18 full pilot house but its meant for one like yours with the open sides, I think I paid 50 or 100$ or so for it with the bow's. If you were looking for one I'd sell it, I'm in NB near Maine border.

    DO you have any pics?

Also do you know the load capacity motor/ people? Can’t locate that info anywhere on the boat.

    Thanks!

I'll try to find a pic, I think the previous owner sent a pic from it installed on her boat.

Rosborough endorsed up to 100 hp. I've got a pair of 50's on mine. I've been told there are some out there with 130 hp on them but you'd want some glass smooth water to bother with that.

Not sure on people, we go out with 4 or 5 totalling 1000 lbs and holds something like 80 gallons of fuel, usually only have 100-150 lbs of fuel in it though. Its not happy about the pair of older heavy 4 strokes on the thick aluminum outboard bracket though, sits low in the rear, can't take the plug out in the water.

Oh and 3500 lb trailer with bunks. They need redoing though and guides added. Our launch is over an exposed rocky river bank into shallow water full of boulders. Last boat had more of a V hull so less trouble getting centred. Some day hope to get a water course alteration permit and drag all the boulders to one side to make a breakwater.
