    Makai Fishing Lines

OK. Even though the line is priced about 40% less than the competition, mention this forum, purchase any 5-lb or 25-lb spool or 2-kg spool of Deception Fluorocarbon, and I will take 10% off your first order. You can view the lines here:

    Spectra Lines

No, Makai does not offer any spectra lines, but we have Tufline XP and Ohero Advanced Microfiber Braided Lines for that!

What is the difference between the Equalizer and the Pursuit line? Which would be better for trolling lures and Ballyhoo rigs?

    Equalizer vs Pursuit

Pursuit should work just fine for your lures and rigs. Makai “Pursuit†is a premium co-polymer monofilament manufactured under strict tolerances resulting in a line with high strength, consistent diameters, controlled stretch, excellent abrasion resistance and knot strength at a price that will not break the bank. Makai “Pursuit†is offered from 8-80 pound tests on 1/4 pound, 8-100 on 1 pound spools and 20-130 pound tests on 5 pound spools as well as bulk 25 pound spools from 80-800 pound tests. Makai “Pursuit†will meet any angler’s expectations at an incredible value.

Makai “Equalizer†is a high performance big game monofilament. If you want small diameters, super high tensile strength, knot strength, and softness with unmatched value, then this is the perfect line for you. Decades of industry experience, coupled with direct communication with captains and the most knowledgeable dealers around, has enabled us to direct our extruders to produce a nylon monofilament line that will soon become the line of choice for offshore blue water anglers. Before coming to market, preliminary market research and development was conducted on some of the top commercial rod and reel BLUEFIN tuna boats in the Northeast, North Carolina, and even Canada’s renowned Prince Edward Island fisheries. Makai “Equalizer†was tested under some of the most extreme conditions in these fisheries, and the feedback has been sensational. Makai “Equalizer†is available from 30-200 pound tests on 5-pound spools, 100-yard leader coils from 100-400 pound tests, and bulk 25-pound spools from 150-400 pound tests.

I just pull tested 200lb Deception this afternoon for the first time and I am impressed. Will be swapping all of my leaders over starting tomorrow.

Trophy tackle found some for me. I ended up buying the 25lb spool so I don't have to deal with finding more anytime soon and more frequent changes of the top shot since I'll have plenty! I rig my father's reels as well. I'll be sure to break test it often to be sure age doesn't affect its performance over time.

I have been real pleased with its performance and price. Basically got 2 5lb spools for free since I bought the bulk spool. A 5lb spool is a little more than half of what momoi cost I think.
