Finally a place for technical terms, what they are and what exactly they mean. First on the list: Hot Coat

Hot coating is basically using catalyzed resin over a porous surface - such as plywood, balsa, foam, etc. It fills the end grain and various fibers, soaks into the material so that it won't draw away from the laminate you put on top of it. One can hot coat and let it kick or hot coat and put their laminate over it. If doing the latter always be aware of your project and if you start to see some dry spots (they will look dull) be sure to add some more product to those areas. Seal it up now so it won't be an issue later.
