I've seen posts on this forum about Pointer's and was curious about others who have one. Mine is shown in the image, but has a center console instead of a tiller. Would love to hear some more info from folks who know these boats, or the people in the brochure! My Pointer 18 currently has a Yamaha 60 that moves her along at 25mph loaded down. Love this boat!!

I have a 1979 Pointer 18 w/ a 2009 Honda 50 EFI. Great little boat I actually bought as a mooring keeper when I needed something quick in 2015. Honestly not sure I will ever sell her as I just love this little boat.

I had always liked Eastern 18's(buddy has one), but liked the size(way more beam) of the Pointer 18 being a very big 18' skiff. Great beach boat, recreation lobster boat and all around easy fun boat to own. Way more stable then an Eastern 18, but the trade off is a "firmer" ride for sure.... That being said she hits 22 knots WOT and cruising comfortable at 16 knots...

Boat is built heavy, and from the gunnels to the console I am always amazed how thick the glass layup is!! You can really load the hull down and she handles even better, but that also super seaworthy and have been impressed when out in some conditions I should not have been on the water in!

Look forward to some other Pointer 18' folks chiming in... great little DE skiff.

All of that sounds amazing, enjoy!. I have 12 gallon with a 70 yamaha on mine as well and load it up with clam rakes, sleds, coolers and usually 2-3 people to haul our stuff down about 20mi or so one way and still have fuel to burn once back home. It's light but it'll get me to the fuel dock haha. Love the efficiency of these hulls.

Does anyone have a Pointer 18 in southern New England? I am trying to decide if I will buy or build my next boat and really want to "try before I buy". I have the plans for the West Pointer 18 and the Ocean Pointer 19. Anyone ever compare them?

Easterns are a great boat, but they don't have the tumblehome aft that the Pointers do. They also appear to not have as much beam as the Pointers. On the other hand, it also looks as if the ride on the Pointers could benefit from a little more "v" in the aft section below the waterline to smooth the ride.

The Ocean Pointer 19 (actually 19.5) is a scale up of the West Pointer 18 - they make a point of saying so in the literature.
