I just updated my Google Maps app on my iPad. The update allows you to easily measure distance over water. Makes it easy to plan your next cruise.

I've used this one for the last year with good success: Measure Distance on a Map
It was great for long trips and I could select nautical miles. I'll look into the google maps one too.

You gotta try the navionics app. So good for planning routes. I would imagine that google maps is much easier though for getting rough distances. Thanks!
